Mobile solar solutions in Bruny Island, Australia

Dec 10th,2024 489 Views
Australia's Tasmania Bruny island, located off the coast of Hobart, is a world-famous holiday destination. Here is full of magnificent landscape wonders, worthy of tourists to explore.
Due to the nature of the island, the energy supply of the island is very dependent on diesel oil transported by barge. The voyage takes more than 10 hours. If there is a large storm at sea, barge service is interrupted and there will be a power outage. Transocean transport of diesel oil has high economic cost and is not conducive to Marine environmental protection. Therefore, a new energy supply scheme that is more environmentally friendly, economical and convenient is needed.
With the support of IMP, we have deployed mobile container photovoltaic power stations that combine solar modules with container energy storage and diesel units to achieve seamless power supply for the local area, providing a cleaner, more efficient and stable energy supply.
The project has a total output of 185kW and is equipped with several off-grid battery energy storage systems.
If the weather is fine, solar energy and batteries can be used 100 percent. Around 80% of the electricity comes from solar energy on average throughout the year, with the remaining 20% coming from diesel generators.
At present, this system can meet the electricity needs of more than 200 people, and from an economic point of view, this advanced system can save more than $500,000 in operating costs per year.
In the future, in the case of rising fuel prices, the cost of traditional power generation will continue to increase, while the cost of solar energy and energy storage grid is declining. Although the price will be high in the beginning, in the long run, time is our friend.
